Trenchless Pipe Replacement: The Smarter Way to Fix Your Sewer Line Without Tearing Up Your Yard

March 9, 2026  |   by Admin

If you have ever been told you need sewer line work, your first instinct was probably dread. Not because of the repair itself, but because of the traditional method for doing it: excavation. The old-school approach to sewer line replacement involves heavy equipment, a long trench dug from your house to the street, destroyed landscaping, cracked driveways or sidewalks, and days of disruption.

The good news is that Precision Plumbing offers a better way. Trenchless pipe replacement lets our team repair or replace your sewer line with minimal digging — in most cases, just one or two small access holes — leaving your yard, driveway, and landscape essentially intact. To see our full range of Las Vegas plumbing services, including trenchless pipe replacement, visit our services page.

With trenchless technology, most sewer line jobs are completed in a single day — compared to 3 to 5 days for traditional excavation. And your yard stays untouched.

What Is Trenchless Pipe Replacement?

Trenchless pipe replacement is a modern plumbing technique that allows damaged, cracked, or collapsed sewer pipes to be repaired or replaced from the inside out — all without digging a long trench. There are two primary methods Precision Plumbing uses:

Pipe Lining (CIPP)Pipe Bursting
A flexible, resin-saturated liner is inserted into the existing pipe and inflated. As it cures, it forms a new pipe-within-a-pipe. Ideal when the original pipe is still mostly intact but cracked, leaking, or infiltrated by roots.A new pipe is pulled through the old one using a bursting head that fractures the old pipe outward as it goes. Best for pipes that are fully collapsed, severely corroded, or structurally failed.
No digging required. Access from existing cleanouts.1-2 small access holes only. Pipe upsizing possible.

When Trenchless Is the Right Choice

Trenchless is not always the answer — but for the majority of residential sewer line jobs in Las Vegas, it is the superior option. It is especially well-suited when:

  • Your sewer line runs beneath a concrete driveway, stamped patio, or hardscape you want to protect
  • You have mature landscaping, trees, or grass that would be destroyed by traditional excavation
  • You are dealing with root intrusion that has cracked but not fully collapsed the pipe
  • You need the work done quickly — trenchless jobs typically complete in one day
  • Your pipe is in a location that makes excavation especially costly, such as under a pool deck or close to the home foundation

The Role of Video Inspection

Before any trenchless work begins, Precision Plumbing performs a full video pipe inspection. Our camera is fed through the line to document the exact location, type, and severity of the damage. This step is not optional — it is the foundation of getting the repair right the first time. It also helps us

catch secondary issues like slab leaks, offset joints, or bellied pipe sections that could become problems if left unaddressed.
